DESCRIPTION:This remote\, RN instructor-led course includes information required to be taught annually by an RN to direct care workers\, according to Maine regulations governing the licensing and functioning of assisted housing programs\, including: \n\nDietary requirements\nAnti-Diabetic Oral medications – inclusive of adverse reactions and interventions\, hyper and hypo glycemic reactions\nInsulin storage\nInsulin injection techniques and site rotation (video demonstration)\nTreatment and prevention of insulin reaction including signs/symptoms\nFoot care\nLab testing\, urine testing and blood glucose monitoring\, and\nStandard Precautions\n\nThis course includes diabetes information for direct care professionals and must be combined with a CRMA certificate if the individual will be administering insulin. Students will receive a one-year Diabetes Certificate at the completion of the course. If you are not an NCI employee and will use an alternate RN\, you may opt out of the NCI supervised medication pass during the registration process. The class fee without the medication pass is $325.
