Diabetes Certification

$75; 1.5 hours

This remote, RN instructor-led course includes information required to be taught annually by an RN to direct care workers, according to Maine regulations governing the licensing and functioning of assisted housing programs, including:

  • Dietary requirements
  • Anti-Diabetic Oral medications – inclusive of adverse reactions and interventions, hyper and hypo glycemic reactions
  • Insulin storage
  • Insulin injection techniques and site rotation
  • Treatment and prevention of insulin reaction including signs/symptoms
  • Foot care
  • Lab testing, urine testing and blood glucose monitoring, and
  • Standard Precautions.

This course includes diabetes information for direct care professionals and must be combined with a CRMA certificate if the individual will be administering insulin. Students will receive a one-year Diabetes Certificate at the completion of the course.
